India: Computer Centre Loreto

A new computer centre was unveiled at the Loreto Day School Sealdah in September 2007, within the framework of the Loreto Integration Project. This centre, destined for computer education and internet use, may be accessed by children from all of the Rainbow Homes, three of which are supported by Net4kids. Students can take lessons in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel) with accredited certificates. The computer classes improve the street children's job market perspectives enormously. Net4kids support allowed the required equipment (computers, printers) and software to be acquired, and operating costs such as maintenance and teacher salaries have been covered for the next five years. To date, 480 girls have taken classes.
