Nepal: construction of home for boys and girls

Child Watabaran Centre Nepal (CWCN) has been sheltering street children in a number of rented buildings in Kathmandu since 2002. These homes are far from ideal (no clean water, access to transportation, too few rooms) and the costs of renting increase every year.

In 2007, Net4kids made sure the operating costs of the rented girls' home – with space for fifteen girls – were covered. During the course of 2007, three girls were able to return to their families, and new inhabitants were welcomed into the home, bringing the total number of children helped in 2007 to eighteen.

In order to decrease dependence and increase the quality of care, CWCN has also managed to collect funds via Net4kids to buy a piece of land just outside the city centre. The land will become the site of a home for 30 boys and another for 30 girls.
