Nepal: Transit Clinic

In February 2007, the Watabaran Transit Clinic opened its doors – a 'low threshold' outpatient clinic in Kathmandu. The clinic provides first aid to street children (often based on referrals from the Watabaran Mobile Health Service) and they can get answers to their questions about health and hygiene. A nurse and social workers are present around the clock, the doctor for two hours per day. Severe cases are referred to the hospital. A special presentation room helps the team teach the children about hygiene, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS, etc.
