Ghana: Safe water for needy communities
There is a major lack of clean drinking water in north-eastern Ghana. 80% of the diseases that occur here are caused by drinking contaminated water. To get drinking water, the people (mostly women and girls) must often walk kilometres to reach the closest well, where they need to wait for hours before getting water. United Cultures Ghana and the Equal Opportunity Fund wanted to provide the population with drinking water, and thanks to Net4kids, among others, they have been able to dig more wells. Six villages have been provided with sustainable, clean water thanks to the digging of two new wells. This can help prevent a large number of cases of diseases such as cholera and diarrhoea.
