Overall results

In 2007, Net4kids financed a total of 24 projects in ten countries: Gambia (four), Ghana (three), Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, India (five) and Nepal (five), Brazil and Pakistan (two). We were able to support 16,194 children, 8,995 more than the year before (+125%).

Aantal ondersteunde kinderen

A critical note does apply to these figures, however. The fact that so many children were helped is in part due to the types of projects we supported over the past year. We invested a great deal in clean water supplies, sanitation and healthcare. This provides many children with direct access to care. We may well choose different projects in 2008 – projects tailored to total care for one child. For example homes for street children with shelter, education and healthcare. There is a real need for this kind of aid, and we are committed to providing it. The goal is to create a balanced portfolio encompassing both individual aid and one-time projects with lasting impacts. The number of children helped will therefore never become an end in itself.

Project donations
Total donations for child aid projects amounted to (the equivalent of) € 619,961. An increase of 21.5% compared to last year. The increase in project donations allowed Net4kids to expand the number of projects once again. A total of 24 projects were support, eleven of them new. All but one are projects via existing partners. This is in line with our objectives to support scalable projects wherever possible, and work on building long-term relationships with project partners. Furthermore, limiting the number of projects suits the phase Net4kids is currently in, in which we must use both means and available time effectively. Net4kids currently works with a total of sixteen project partners.
