Net4kids team: professional volunteersThe Net4kids organisation is largely supported by volunteers. Only three employees are (partially) reimbursed for their services, as their work requires a degree of time, effort and commitment that cannot be expected to be delivered solely by pro bono efforts. In 2006, Net4kids had a team of 42 volunteers. All of them are professionals who provide time and their specific expertise – varying depending on their availability – to Net4kids. The volunteers work within various task-oriented teams and clear agreements have been made with each of them regarding availability and delivery criteria in order to safeguard project progress and organisational continuity. The ‘volunteer contracts’ we enter into in order to define input and/or output for all involved parties were reevaluated in 2006, and renewed where needed. This should lead to further differentiation between ‘enthusiastic supporters’ and ‘deployable team members’. This will take further shape in 2007. The Net4kids volunteer corps consists partly of individuals who support Net4kids during their free time, and partly of individuals who are involved via their organisations: often entrepreneurs without personnel, but also employee volunteers.
