Contracting, monitoring and evaluation of projectsThe groundwork for monitoring and evaluation is laid at application, via the ‘project application form’ [link]. The world of (child) aid projects is varied, however, and support and monitoring is not as simple as application and realisation. It requires specific knowledge and experience. In Wilde Ganzen, Net4kids has found a renowned partner in supporting the selection, contracting and monitoring of child aid projects. The partnership with Wilde Ganzen, which we in turn support via new forms of fundraising and the role IT can play, was further strengthened in 2006. Over the past year, Wilde Ganzen provided contracts and monitoring for over 50% of all projects supported by Net4kids. They also evaluate and check the reports (informational and financial) based on existing reporting criteria [link to criteria]. Given the significant added value they provide with their specialist knowledge and process support, the relationship with Wilde Ganzen will be expanded in 2007. All projects supported by Net4kids are also monitored locally. Net4kids and/or Wilde Ganzen employees visit each project site in order to provide additional support or guidance where necessary, either on location or from the Netherlands. It creates strong commitment in all parties: Net4kids, Wilde Ganzen and the project partners. In 2006, 8 of the 15 projects were visited. In general, the goal of the visits was to keep an eye on things. In one case, the visit was due to problems with the implementing partner, who required help in meeting management and reporting requirements due to the explosive growth they were undergoing.
