Ghana: Educating ICT skills and library

An increasing number of children in Ghana is receiving ICT lessons. This is a good thing, as it allows the children to develop a better image of the world, and teaches them skills that will help them in today’s competitive job market. In order to bridge the gap between rich and poor, between the ‘first’ and the ‘third’ world, children should come into contact with computers from an early age. However, nowhere near all elementary schools in Ghana are capable of providing this opportunity. Project partner To Be Worldwide is committed to changing this.

Thanks to the introduction of ICT lessons, increasing numbers of Ghanese children are being prepared for the future. Thanks to these lessons and access to a library, they not only improve their chances on the job market, but they also gain a better image of the world around them. An educational centre with a children’s library was created with the donations from Net4kids. Net4kids also covers the costs of educational software, drawing and handiwork materials, books, chairs for the computer lab, salaries for the 3 ICT teachers, high-quality ADSL connections, and salaries for the librarian and an assistant.
