Nepal: Primary School Atrauli
In Atrauli, a very remote village in Nepal, a school was built in 2004. Part of the costs was covered by Net4kids, but the community contributed by working on the school without payment for 2 of the 7 days. Now 365 children in the region can go to school. While the facilities are in place, financing education is still a problem. The population is poor, and can barely afford to pay the teachers. With the aid of the Tamsarya Foundation, which aided in the construction of the building in 2004, a plan was developed that should allow teachers to be paid for in a sustainable manner. Fruit trees were planted near the school, with the proceeds going towards paying teacher salaries. The trees are partly supported via Net4kids, ensuring a good education for 250 children.
