The School for the Poorest of the Poor run by Nepal Matri Griha has as its primary goal to give underprivileged children a future by letting them go to school in a safe environment, with special attention given to their development in a number of areas, from nutrition to healthcare to regular schooling. Additionally, the programme offers the families extra support, in order to complete the circle of improvement.
There are more and more families in Nepal who cannot offer their children proper care and education. A lack of hygiene and widespread alcohol use threatens normal family life. Children from these families often can’t go to school, and have mental and physical problems (such as malnutrition). With the School for the Poorest of the Poor, partner Nepal Matri Griha offers these children the opportunity to go to school. They get everything that’s needed, including social support for the home front.
The funds are spent on things like:
- teachers
- a school uniform
- teaching materials
- medical treatments
- a daily snack
- one full meal per week
