India: Vocational training centre

The local aid organization SAVE is active in Tirupur, an industrial area in the south of India with a long history of child labour. SAVE combines two values important for the future: child aid and environmental care. The organization is developing a lasting ecological theme park which also offers street children aid in the form of shelter, food and (professional) education.

SAVE provides vocational training at the SAVE Ecopark to 100 street children and young adolescents. These children have been rescued from child labour in the area. In the vocational training centre they will be trained for occupations such as electrician, plumber, mobile phone repairer, computer operator.

Construction vocational training centre

Funds will be used for the construction of a vocational training centre for street children.

01 Aug 2009 - 31 Jul 2010: 1x

The project  aims to ensure a better quality of life and future economic safety for the rescued street children. Children will be empowered with vocational skills , marketing expertise and entrepreneurial skills. Increased vocational skills will eventually enhance the earning opportunities of these rescued children and will enhance their status socially and economically.
