Since we continue to grow rapidly, we almost always have opportunities available for professional volunteers. This involves individuals who wish to make a concrete contribution to our results on a long-term basis and take on concrete tasks, authorities and responsibilities. We call these volunteers ‘team members’. They contribute substantially to our daily goings on – although usually for only a few hours a week.

We also have volunteers we refer to as ‘contributors’. These are people we turn to when their specific expertise is needed and/or people who spot opportunities for us proactively, such as new donors or collaboration opportunities.

Around 90% of our team is currently made up of volunteers, each and every one of whom combines this work with a busy career and home life. Not only do we believe strongly in this model because it keeps costs low and provides us with access to talent we otherwise would never be able to pay for, but we also believe in the passion and pleasure that goes hand and hand with volunteer work.
